Eligibility for Kolkata Police Recruitment 2024

Kolkata Police Constable 2024 Selection Process

West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) is held responsible for conducting the recruitment process for shortlisting eligible candidates for 3734 constable and lady constable posts. For selecting the candidates, 5 stages of the selection process are decided to be conducted which are enlisted below in sequence.

1. Written Examination:  A screening examination is conducted to shortlist candidates for the next stage of the selection process and the marks obtained by a candidate in this exam will not be considered for preparing the final merit list. There would be 100 objective-type questions with 1 mark for correct answer and a negative marking of 1/4th mark for incorrect answer.

2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT): The physical standards i.e. height, weight, and chest (only for males) will be carried under the Physical Measurement Test (PMT).

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who are qualified in Physical Measurement Test (PMT) will be shortlisted to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test which includes a running event.

4. Final Written Exam: All the candidates who qualify in the PMT and PET will be called to appear in the Final Written Examination which will be conducted by WBPRB. The board will fix the qualifying marks in this test to appear for the next stage. There would be 85 objective-type questions with 1 mark for correct answer and a negative marking of 1/4th for incorrect answer.

5. Interview: This will be the final stage of the selection process for Kolkata Police Constable Recruitment 2024. Based on the marks scored in the Final Written Examination and Interview, a merit list of the provisionally selected candidates. Candidates’ ability to speak in Bengali will also be tested in his/her Interview.

KP Constable Exam Pattern for Preliminary Test

The first stage of the Kolkata Police Constable and Lady Constable selection process is a preliminary examination which is a screening test. The duration of solving 100 MCQs in the prelims exam is 1 hour (60 minutes). For every wrong answer, a 1/4th mark will be deducted.

KP Constable Exam Pattern for PMT

The candidates who qualified for the Kolkata Police Constable Preliminary examination will be screened for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) i.e. Height, Chest, and Weight measurements. The candidates who do not fulfill the laid down physical standard will be eliminated. Qualified candidates in the PMT examination will be eligible to appear in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

Those candidates who qualify for the Physical Measurement Test (PET) will be eligible to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test. The PET test will be done through their performances as per the following parameters.

The duration of solving 100 MCQs in the prelims exam is 1 hour (60 minutes) and there will be 85 MCQs. For every wrong answer, a 1/4th mark will be deducted. Marks scored in final written exam will be counted for final selection.
