JEE Main 2021: What’s new?
NTA has taken several measures for JEE Main 2021 exam to be held in four sessions this year. Here’s a look at the important points to remember in the new exam pattern.
- JEE Main 2021 exam will be conducted four times a year. The exam will be conducted in February, March, April and May. It will help students to appear in any or all four exams as per their choice. If any candidate appears in all the four sessions of the exam, his/her best score will be considered for the counselling process.
- JEE Main 2021 application form can be filled online for all the sessions in a single attempt. It saves time as there is no need to fill the form for different sessions separately. However, students can choose to fill the forms later for subsequent sessions. The application form window will reopen after the result of each session is announced. One time fee payment can be done while filling the form for multiple sessions. If a student does not appear for a particular session, a request can be made to forward the fee for the next session that the student plans to appear for. This needs to be done online within the provided fee payment window. In case a student wants to opt-out of a session for which the fees has been paid, a request can be made to refund the fee for that session. Read more
- For the first time, JEE Mains 2021 will be conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. It will enable the candidates to choose to appear in their regional language.
- Candidates are now required to attempt a total of 75 questions out of 90. Out of 30 questions in every section (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics), candidates will be required to attempt only 25 questions. This means students will have a total of 15 optional questions in Paper 1. There will be no negative marking for the 15 optional questions in case they are attempted by students. This step has been taken keeping in mind the reduced syllabus in Class 12 Boards across the country. However, it is important to note that the syllabus for JEE Mains 2021 has not been reduced.
