Garima Lohia Early Life and Education

Garima Lohia was born and raised in a business family and is a native of Buxar, Bihar. In an unfortunate incident, Garima’s father died 8 years ago. Her interests include listening to self-improvement podcasts. Garima completed her secondary education at Woodstock School. She enrolled in the Sunbeam School in Varanasi to complete her higher secondary education. After completing her higher secondary education, Garima studied in Kirori Mal College in Delhi. From this college, she achieved the degree in accounting. Later, she started preparing for UPSC examination.

Garima Lohia Journey Towards UPSC

Driven by her desire to bring about positive change in society, Garima decided to pursue a career in civil services. She embarked on her UPSC preparation journey with immense dedication and determination. Garima spent countless hours studying, analyzing previous year question papers, and engaging in insightful discussions with mentors and fellow aspirants. Her optional subjects in UPSC were Accountancy and Commerce.

Garima Lohia was preparing for the UPSC prelims 2023 till the results from the previous year were announced, she said. She described her UPSC preparation strategy, saying, “I used to study for 8 to 9 hours someday”. She meticulously followed a timetable, dividing her time between newspaper reading, studying core subjects, and practicing answer writing. Garima emphasized the value of self-help groups in her mock interview when asked how she would promote women’s empowerment in Bihar. She went on to explain how educating women about the existing schemes that are available to them might help them become more economically empowered.

The day of the UPSC examination results brought immense joy and fulfillment to Garima and her family. Talking to the media, she said, “I decided to prepare for civil services in 2020 during Covid-19 lockdown. After returning home, I started self-study and also took help from online study platforms. On my first attempt, I could not clear the prelims examination. I again worked hard and cleared the exam in the second attempt. I was expecting to clear the exam but I did not imagine second rank”. Garima Lohia’s remarkable achievement in the UPSC examination has served as a beacon of hope for countless aspirants across the nation.
